About the Course
First of all, let's start with the basics:

What is the symptothermal method?

The symptothermal method is one of several fertility awareness methods. With this method, you will learn to identify, understand, and interpret the different biomarkers of the body (cervical fluid, basal temperature, LH hormone, and optionally the cervix) to differentiate between fertile and infertile days of our menstrual cycle.

This method can become a journey to get to know your body and understand what is happening in your cycle. It's about ceasing to live in the dark and bringing clarity to our hormonal health, which helps us make informed decisions about our fertility and overall health. Learning the symptothermal method means having knowledge about our bodies forever.

This method is considered 99.6% effective (the same as contraceptive pills) with no side effects.

However, it is a method that has a learning curve, and just like any other contraceptive method, it has its advantages and disadvantages.

No contraceptive method is 100% effective, except abstinence*
The symptothermal method takes a few minutes per day to use correctly. At first, you may feel overwhelmed, but every day you will feel more confident about your observations and have a better understanding of your body.
Advantages:

-
It has no side effects.
-
You learn to identify your biomarkers and understand your cycle in depth, which can be empowering.
-
It is 99.6% effective when used correctly.
-
It is a good option for people who do not want to take hormonal contraceptives.
-
It is a good option for people who want to know their cycle and hormonal health more deeply.
-
It is a method that can be used as contraception and to try to achieve a pregnancy.
Advantages and Disadvantages
Disadvantages:

-
It does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases.
-
It requires a high commitment to learn and implement it.
-
It requires changing sexual behavior during the fertile window (abstinence or barrier method).
-
Learning curve at the beginning.
The only Natural Birth Control that gives you all the knowledge about your body, without the side effects
This course is for you if:
-
You want to learn about your body and hormonal cycle.
-
You are willing to change your sexual behavior during your fertile window.
-
You don't mind observing and touching your cervical mucus.
-
You have at least three months to dedicate yourself to understanding the symptothermal method thoroughly.
-
You have a relatively consistent sleep schedule.
-
You don't need to have a "regular" cycle; you can have irregular, long cycles, or PCOS and practice the method. However, you should keep in mind that this may mean longer periods of abstinence or the use of a barrier method and more time to understand your cycle patterns.
This course may not be for you if:
-
If you cannot negotiate the timing of sexual intercourse without any barrier method with your partner (if you are in an abusive relationship).
-
You do not want/cannot change your sexual behavior during your fertile window.
-
You do not want to use a method that requires a learning curve.
-
You do not want to dedicate time to learn the symptothermal method.
-
You are not ready to stop using contraceptives.
This course may be more difficult to learn if:
-
It has been less than six months since you stopped hormonal contraceptives.
-
You do not have a relatively regular sleep schedule.
-
You are taking any medication that may affect cervical flow (antihistamines, decongestants, and vaginal creams).
-
You frequently experience infections in the reproductive tract.

How much does birth control cost per year?
In Europe, the costs are:

-
The pill - 50 € per year.
-
Copper IUD - 150 € every 5 years, requires a doctor's appointment to insert and remove it.
-
Hormonal IUD - 160 € every 3-10 years, requires a doctor's appointment to insert and remove it.
-
Contraceptive implant - 200 € every 3/4 years, requires a doctor's appointment to insert and remove it.

To these costs, we also can add the complete shutdown of our hormone cycle which leads to a very long list of side effects ranging from low libido to an increased risk of cervical, breast, and liver cancer.
